Standard Poodle Books

Standard Poodle Books: When researching for Royal Standard Poodles through many books, this one stayed at the top of my list, Dog Breed Handbooks Poodle by Bruce Fogle. It helped finalize my decision (though none specifically referenced "Royal poodles").

The information provides behavior profiles taken from a study by vets and dog breeders, covering over 100 breeds. In all of the charts, characteristics I looked for continually ranked among the top with standard poodles. They rated high in trainability, reliable with children, calm in new circumstances, and the least amount of destructiveness when left alone. Color of the dog even made a difference. I chose brown, which I call chocolate, as it sounds like more of a treat. The chocolate standard poodles are a treat, coming in different chocolate colors, hair texture, thickness, and are rare. If you didn't know it, chocolates do fade out over years to be a grey/dark brown grey. You will find most reds fade out after years to actually become a cream color--REALLY!
